Social media sites are issuing a video clip revealing the method of successfully insulating roofs and the materials used, as the owners of the last floors of buildings suffer from rainwater leakage in the winter, and the high temperature of the last floor in the summer.
In the circulated video clip, Engineer Yasser Abdullah revealed the secret of insulating the last floors, especially since the insulation process is considered one of the crucial aspects of building and facilities construction. If it is implemented poorly, it may cause many problems for property owners.
As for the steps followed, cleaning and removing all impurities on the roof.
Then apply the insulating foam concrete, which is a mixture that includes cement and fine materials and contains air spaces that work to reduce the thermal conductivity of the mortar layer. The goal of this is to achieve thermal insulation with a thickness of about 7 cm.
In addition, a cement protection layer is applied as a fourth layer after the thermal insulation, followed by a waterproof layer as a fifth layer. To ensure the effectiveness of the waterproofing, tests are conducted on the roof with water for 4 days.
In the event of a leak, the water is drained and the problem is treated, and then an additional cement protective layer is applied. Yasser Abdullah added: “After the insulation operations are completed, the tiles are installed.”
